Witness was built for a simple reason: too much of what people see online has been faked, edited, or taken out of context. We want to give ordinary people the power to prove their media is real.

How It Works

1. Capture with Witness App

Take a photo or video using the Witness app. Each capture is cryptographically signed using your device's TEE (Trusted Execution Environment). No extra steps needed.

2. Blockchain Anchoring

The cryptographic signature is anchored on the Bitcoin blockchain using OpenTimestamps, creating a permanent, public timestamp that anyone can verify independently.

3. Verify Anywhere

Anyone, a journalist, a lawyer, or just a curious person, can use this website to check whether a piece of media is genuine and unedited. Works even after sharing on TikTok, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
